Welcome to Nordplus Junior project "Professional Development Workshops for Teachers - sharing good practice"!

0n the 3th of December 2010 Tiina Erala and Ildze Lange presented our project on the exhibition EXPRO 2010 in Riga.


Aims and expected outcome:


Aims of the project:

  • Develop teachers´ professional skills and teaching quality
  • Share and compare good practice of active teaching methods from different European countries
  • Increase creativity, capability and awareness of teachers
  • Develop teachers´ IT skills
  • Encourage and sustain teachers in projecting and carrying out methodologies and  instruments in order to increase the motivation of their students in studying and  learning
  • Get to know education systems and school environment of several European countries with all differences and similarities
  • To create a sense of understanding for one another´s situation and to learn from that – as well as discover what unite countries of North-Europe
Outcome of the project:

  • Through professional development workshops have increased teaching quality in partner schools
  • Teachers use new active methods and techniques inspired by workshop experiences
  • Teachers make e-learning materials with web tools (LeMill, SlideShare etc.)
  • A website where will be edited and shared guide lines as well as the most significant material which are essential for the output reproduction.Website is assembled from materials of discussions and descriptions of good practice methods and actions
 

Activities:

  •  Professional Development Workshops during 5 days are hold in every partner school. 4 teachers take part in workshop from every partner school. The first and the final project meeting take place in Estonia.
During workshops:

  • Partners introduce their school system.
  • During workshop teachers visit each others lessons.
  • Each foreign teacher conducts one creative workshop-lesson using active learning methods.
  • For teachers there is a lecture of pedagogical or didactical topics and discussion.
  • Teachers have practical workshops how to use web tools to create learning materials, which could be used by large community
 

  • Schools make small introduction of their country on posters and travelling exhibition will be put together during the first project meeting. Exhibition travels  through all participating countries/schools during project meetings
  • Editing project website
 

Sharing of responsibilities and workload:

  • There are persons who are really interested in their professional development participating in project work from every partner school
  •  Every partner is responsible for activities during project meeting in their school
 

There are discussion sessions at the end of every workshop, where teachers evaluate their colleagues´ methods of teaching - there we together find out the best experiences and how to use them in classroom - to reach on new quality level.
